【时政春秋】Koizumi challenges Koshi, a glimpse of the LDP presidential election.

The leader election of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan will be held on October 4. Japan adopts a cabinet system, and the Prime Minister is elected by the parliament, so the leader of the LDP, as the largest party in the parliament, is very likely to become the Prime Minister of Japan.

In this leadership election, although there are 5 candidates competing, the main contenders are actually Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Taro Kono, and Sanae Takaichi. As the son of former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, Taro Kono has received the most support from parliamentary members, while Sanae Takaichi, due to her conservative stance, has a higher level of support among grassroots party members. So, who will emerge as the frontrunner for the leadership position?
