《Bad Boys 4》Tops North American Weekly Box Office, Receives Good Reviews from Audiences”

As of Sunday, June 9th, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” has taken the top spot in the North American weekend box office, exceeding expectations and bringing vitality to the summer box office. The film received a high freshness rating of 97% from audiences on the movie review site Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated in the “Bad Boys” series.

According to Box Office Mojo, the production budget for “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” was $100 million. After its release in North America on the 7th, it immediately topped the weekend box office with a revenue of $56 million, surpassing the expected $50 million. The global total box office reached $104.6 million. Reports from foreign media indicate that over two-thirds of the weekend audience were African American and Latinx.

The “Bad Boys” series has now released its fourth installment, including “Bad Boys” (1995), “Bad Boys II” (2003), “Bad Boys for Life” (2020), and “Bad Boys: Ride or Die”. The fourth movie did not surpass the record-breaking $62.5 million weekend box office of the third installment, ranking second in the series.

In terms of ratings, IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes are common references for evaluating the quality of movies. On IMDb, the audience ratings for the first to fourth movies were 6.8, 6.6, 6.5, and 7.0, respectively. The Rotten Tomatoes audience freshness ratings were 78%, 78%, 96%, and 97%, with “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” receiving the highest praise.

Critics on Rotten Tomatoes had mixed reviews for the four movies, with support rates of 44%, 24%, 76%, and 63%. A Rotten Tomatoes reviewer commented, “Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s collaboration in ‘Bad Boys’ remains seamless, proving that this high-energy movie series still has vitality.”

On the 9th, Smith shared a video on social media where he was spotted wearing a mask while quietly watching “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” from the back of the theater. He mentioned, “This is my routine. Whenever a movie is released, I do this. Usually there are daytime screenings on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and I always go to the theater.” Laughter can be heard from the audience in the video, and Smith prepared a big surprise for them as they exited the theater.

Aside from “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” in its third week of release in North America, “The Garfield Movie: Farm Adventure” ranked second with a box office revenue of $10 million and a global total of $192 million. “IF” ranked third in its fourth week of release with a global box office revenue of $160 million.
